Akron Childen's will begin offering flu vaccines in schools this week.

The vaccines will be available in a dozen districts through a partnership with an organization called Health Heroes.

The partnership provides the flu vaccine to all children whose parents consent to it regardless of their health care coverage situation.

The flu shots are provided for free to the students, and they will not be billed out-of-pocket.

Uninsured students can get the vaccine for free.

Warren City Schools and East Palestine City Schools are the only districts included locally.

State-licensed nurses administer all shots.
