Beaver Township Police warn against gift card scam

The Beaver Police Department is warning those in Mahoning County about a potential scam. 

The department is warning residents that no law enforcement agencies will contact them and offer to clear up citations or outstanding warrants through the use of gift cards. 

Police say they are aware of at least one incident in Beaver Township and one being investigated by the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office.

The alleged scammers are claiming to be employed by the Mahoning County Sheriff Office and are telling residents that they need to pay through the use of gift cards.
