A popular restaurant in downtown Youngstown has announced its closing.

Co-owner John Naples posted on Facebook that Roberto's Italian Ristorante has closed its doors for good.

Naples said he wished the restaurant could have stuck around until Roberto got healthier but that it wasn't meant to be.

Roberto's closed for a short time in 2018 due to a misunderstanding on the due date for back taxes.

The restaurant reopened in early 2019.

While Roberto's has closed for good, Naples said a new restaurant would be taking over their location in January 2020.
