Crews were out Monday morning, preparing the Youngstown Christmas tree for the upcoming lighting and holiday parade on Friday.

The top portion of the tree broke off during its transport from Austintown, and crews have been working to make sure it holds strong this holiday season.

Branches are being removed, and the tree is being secured into place.

Crews were out fixing the tree last week after sustaining damage from high winds.

After Monday's repairs, the city hopes to decorate the tree starting Tuesday.

Portions of the road on Federal Plaza are closed as crews prepare the tree.
