A person was killed in Union Township Friday night after being struck by a car while walking along US 422.

Police say the incident happened around 10:30 p.m. on Benjamin Franklin Parkway near the westbound ramp to I-376.

The accident was just a mile east of the crash that sent a stake-body truck over a bridge and into a small creek around 4:30 p.m.

The victim was found lying in the middle of the westbound lanes, and a coroner was called to the scene.

The westbound lanes in that area were completely shutdown.

Witnesses on the scene say the driver was there and thought that he hit a deer.

Pennsylvania State Police and Union Township Police are investigating.
