Coronavirus related closings, cancellations, adjustments

Several schools and organizations in the Valley have canceled, postponed, or adjusted schedules and events as they follow government advice on preventing the spread of coronavirus.

21 News has compiled the below list of those changes.

Before you attend and event, you should check this list or call ahead to make sure it has not been canceled or postponed.

If you are looking for changes or events that normally occur on a weekly basis or multiple dates such as church services, check under the date of the event as well as under the "Other closings, adjustments" category.

Bazetta Twp. Park closed

Beulah Temple Church - all services canceled until further notice

Boardman Rotary Tuesday meetings are canceled until further notice. 

Brookfield Township Township Park and the Banquet Hall at the main Fire Department  - Closed until further notice. Anyone who has reservations at the banquet hall will be contacted to discuss the options available to them.

Canfield Presbyterian Church--all services and programs canceled until further notice

Canfield United Methodist Church, No in-person worship until further notice. Worship services on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/CanfieldUMC.

Catholic Bishops of Ohio suspend all publicly celebrated masses/liturgies.

Celebrate Poland, which had been scheduled for June 26 and June 27, has been canceled for 2020.

Central Christian Church – Hermitage, all services and events canceled 

Christ Our Savior canceling all Lenten activities.

Christ Our Savior Parish - Struthers - all CCD and any CCD meetings until further notice.

Cirque du Soleil is canceling its Cleveland, OH engagements, which were scheduled to take place at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse from June 24th until June 28th, 2020.

Columbiana First United Methodist Church will be canceling all services and all other events until further notice.

Columbiana County Health District is restricting interaction with the public to emergency only. The front office will be closed to the public and nonessential field inspections will be suspended. If a resident has an emergency service need, they may contact our office via phone, fax or e-mail. Paperwork may be submitted to our office by mail, fax or e-mail.

Cortland United Methodist Church services - Canceled until further notice

Damascus United Methodist Church is canceling all services and activities until further notice.

Disciples Christian Church is closed until further notice. Worship can be found on their Facebook page.

Deyor Performing Arts Center---all events postponed until further notice 

Eastwood Mall closed. Restaurants open for pickup and delivery.

Eugenia Atkinson Recreation Center, Youngstown, Closed

Farmington Senior Center - Closed until further notice

First Baptist Church of New Castle - All services canceled for the next three weeks. 

First United Church of Christ in downtown Warren is suspending Sunday worship and Bible Study until further notice.

First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown - All church activities canceled

Four Mile Run Christian Church - Church services and events are canceled

Free Mens Rally in the Valley 2020 moved to Saturday, October 10th

Girard Multi-Generational Center - Closed 

Girard’s Arrowhead Stadium Special Olympics and co-sponsored by Girard-Liberty Rotary, Girard City Schools, and Fairhaven Special Olympics has been canceled for 2020.

Girard Senior Citizen Van service suspended until schools reopen

Grace United Methodist Church in Warren is canceling all Sunday morning worship services

Grove City Strawberry Days - Canceled

Guilford Lake Ruritan Club (Columbiana County) fish fries are canceled until further notice

Hermitage - All events and meetings at City buildings and facilities have been canceled until further notice (except for the scheduled meetings of the Board of Commissioners). Those organizations that have scheduled events have been notified. Recycling programs for tires and electronics at the Street Department has been suspended until further notice. Fire Department inspections of occupied rental properties have been suspended until further notice. The Police Department will not issue transient business licenses until further notice. Meetings, both inside and outside of the Municipal Building, with non-City personnel are being postponed until a later date.

Hickory United Methodist Church: All services are Live Stream only, No Maundy Thursday,  Sunday Live stream at 10:30 am only

Hollywood Gaming Mahoning Valley and Race Course closed until further notice.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, Laird Avenue, Youngstown fish fries will be suspended until further notice

Hubbard- Administration building closed to the public. Utility payments to be placed through the mail slot at the administration building. Senior center closed and senior transportation services suspended.

Hubbard City Police Department has decided to close the front business lobby. You will not be able to drop off any medicines at this time.

Hubbard Public Library is closed to all patron and staff until further notice. 

The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown is canceling or postponing existing programs that include large gatherings. The JCC building and the Early Learning Center at the Jewish Community Center will remain open. For closure information about specific classes and programs, contact the JCC at 330-746-3251. Limited visitation is in immediate effect for Heritage Manor Rehabilitation & Retirement Community, and Levy Gardens Assisted Living Heritage Manor. According to a news release from JCC, the decision has been made as a cautionary measure. Jewish Family Services will continue to offer the most services.

Trinity Lutheran Church Niles - All services and activities canceled until further notice.

Trinity United Methodist Church (Youngstown) - No services until further notice.

Trumbull County Fair President has canceled all meetings and activities at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds until further notice.

Mercer County Historical Society closed until further notice. 

McDonough - All museum galleries closed and events canceled. 

Mahoning County Engineers office on Bears Den Road closed to the public until further notice.

MCBDD Adult Services at Centre at Javit Court--closed 

Mercer County Area Agency on Aging, Inc., Senior Centers will be closed until further notice

Mercer County Career Link closed until further notice

Mercer County Grange Fair - Canceled

McKinley Memorial Library and McKinley Birthplace Home remain closed until further notice.

Mercy Health has suspended on-call rape crisis services to the hospital until further notice. Survivors presenting at the hospital will have the opportunity to connect with an advocate over the phone.

Mill Creek MetroParks is canceling all performances for Live at the Morley! along with their Movie in the Park event

Mt. Olivet UCC - North Lima all events and worship is canceled until further notice; online worship will be available

Liberty Assembly of God: All Services, Bible study and small groups moved online until further notice 

Lordstown Lutheran Church worship services have been canceled until further notice.

Mt. Zion Baptist Church services canceled until further notice.

New Life Lutheran Church, Liberty Twp, all activities postponed until further notice.  

Niles City Hall – closed to the public. All utility payments shall be made via mail, drop-box (No Cash) or online. Shutoff for delinquency is suspended, due to the hardship that the COVID-19 situation has created for our residents. In-home water meter replacement is suspended; however, representatives will still make checks to outside water meter components. Please contact the Utility Billing Office with a question. All new utility service applications can be found on the City website. New service, transfers or termination will be made by contacting the Application Clerk at 330-544-9000. All utility deposits will be made via mail or drop-box (No Cash). Please contact the Utility Billing Office with a question. All permits for Building, Zoning, and Dwelling payments will be done via mail or drop-box (No Cash). Permit applications can be found on the City website. Please contact the Planning and Permitting Office with questions.

Niles Wellness Center closed to the public. All Wellness Center events, programming, and rentals will be canceled, refunds will be issued. All Wellness Center memberships will be extended. Wellness Center personnel will be available during normal business hours via phone/email. Please call 330-349-9355 or 330-544-9000 for any questions or concerns.

Niles Senior Center closed to the public.

Niles Fire Stations closed to the public.

Niles Police front desk at the Safety-Service complex will remain open. However, residents who need to speak with an officer or wish to make a report that can be completed by telephone instead of in-person should call the Niles Police Department. For emergencies, call 911.

Niles Municipal Court remains open during normal business hours. Court customers are urged to check-in at kiosks located in the lobby and pay court fines online through the Niles Municipal Court website. www.nilesmunicipalcourt.com.

North Benton Presbyterian Church is canceling services until further notice.

North Mar Church, Warren - All public services canceled this Sunday, doors open Sunday 10 am-noon for prayer & encouragement

Ohio Home Energy Assistance Program applications have been temporarily suspended. Applicants will not be required to complete an in-agency appointment but can opt to complete a phone interview.  While the agency will be open and accepting face to face appointments, households can choose to complete applications which can be submitted via the online system at

Salem Saxon Club has canceled their fish fries for the remainder of the Lenten season.

All SCOPE Senior Centers will be suspending all of its socialization and recreational activities along with the AARP tax program. Essential services such as SCOPE’s food truck and lunch carry out programs along with supportive services will continue. Please check with any center for details or call 330-399-8846.

St. Joe’s at the Mall (Eastwood) is suspending all exercise classes and the use of the gym. The site will be open as a community resource.

St. John Luthern Church, Mahoning Avenue, Youngstown - Canceling all Sunday and Tuesday Eucharistic services as well as the St. John Academy until further notice.

St. Stan’s Church Youngstown - Suspended pierogi sales until after Easter.

Struthers City Hall building will be closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays until further notice.
Any tax filings or payments and any court payments may be dropped in the drop box slot located by the police garage.

SNPJ Recreation Center Chairman Joseph Evanish has announced that the Annual Slovenefest, scheduled for July, 10, 11, and 12 have been canceled this year.

Third Baptist Church,  Youngstown - Sunday services are canceled 

Trinity Lutheran Church in Niles - All during the week activities canceled until further notice. 

Trumbull County African American Achievers festival - canceled.

Trumbull County Court of Common Pleas- General division has suspended all civil jury trials from now until further notice. 

Trumbull County Dog Kennel - Closed to the general public. Dog adoptions will need to be by appointment only at 330-675-2787.
