A Valley mental health and recovery center with several locations is expanding its telemedicine services.
The Serenity Center, which has locations in Austintown, Warren and North Lima, is working with area patients to make healthy choices with regard to attending appointments versus not getting the care they need.
Telemedicine is essentially talking with a counselor or mental health professional over the phone, or it can be done using FaceTime or Skype.
This is where the professional can gather what the patient needs, whether it is a prescription or something else.
"We take our responsibility very seriously to our patients and weighing Public Health concerns," explained Dr. Muhannad Kassawat, Medical Director.
Director of Business Development, Barbara Hierro, said thanks to both the Mahoning and Trumbull County Mental Health Boards, they've been able to reach out to more people and expand these types of services that they have already been using.
However, since the pandemic hit, it's been more important now than ever to help people, whether they have anxiety, depression, a recovering addict, or just going through a tough time.
Hierro said anyone dealing with a hard time is free to contact the main office to schedule an appointment at 330-965-9999.
The company is also posting updates to its Facebook page.
