Another death was recorded on Wednesday as nearly half of people who succumbed to coronavirus have been from long-term care facilities in Columbiana County.

Health officials say an 82-year-old resident of a long-term care facility has died.  The woman had underlying health conditions, according to the health department.

That brings to 41 the number of COVID-29 deaths in the county.  Nineteen were long-term care residents.

The county does not name the facilities. However, state health officials update numbers for long-term care facilities each Wednesday.

Nine of those who died were inmates of the Elkton Federal Correctional Institution.

As of Tuesday, the county reported 342 confirmed cases since the outbreak began. 120 of those patients required hospitalization.

The Bureau of Prisons reports 89 Elkton inmates and 12 staff members are considered active COVID cases.
