In the Governor's daily briefing on Thursday, Lt. Gov. Jon Husted announced that skills training in all sports may resume in Ohio.

High school sports can begin skills practicing on May 26th.

The state released guidelines to follow including self symptom checks before practice, instituting a no-touch rule, meaning all individuals should avoid physical contact including high fives, sanitizing equipment, social distancing each player 6 feet apart, no congregating before or after sessions and no spectators.

The NE8 Conference including district superintendents are aiming to restart skills practice on June 1st.

"Really they missed so much time of open gym you know volleyball and basketball, in particular, have missed a lot of open gym time," said Struthers Superintendent Pete Pirone. "So to get them back in and just to get the kids around each other you know partially for their mental health. A lot of them haven't seen their friends now for three months. So just to get the teams back together is just as important. But also continuing to follow social distancing and safety protocols to make sure they're safe."

Husted also said in his Thursday briefing schools would be given control over when to open their facilities
