Mercer, Lawrence have 78 new COVID cases; Pa. breaks record with 5,531 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health is reporting another daily record high, with 5,531 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 254,387. This is the highest daily increase of cases.

Mercer County has 60 new virus cases in the last day, with a total confirmed count of 1,418 and 297 probable cases. The death toll stands at 30. Positivity rate for the county is 1,549.5 per 100,000.

Lawrence County has 18 new virus cases in the last day, with a total confirmed count of 1,165 and 315 probable cases. One person died from virus-related cases in the last 24-hours in the county. Positivity rate for the Lawrence is 1,713.3 per 100,000.

The number of tests administered within the last 7 days through Nov. 12 is 332,640 with 28,290 positive cases.

The state is reporting 30 new virus-related deaths, with a total of 9,224 deaths.

Mask-wearing is required in all businesses and whenever leaving home in Pennsylvania. 

Of those who have tested positive to date the age breakdown is as follows:

There are 2,196 individuals hospitalized in the state with COVID-19. Of that number, 448 patients are in the intensive care unit.

In nursing and personal care homes, there are 28,990 resident cases of COVID-19, and 6,028 cases among employees, for a total of 35,018 at 1,144 distinct facilities in 63 counties. Out of our total deaths, 6,052 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.

Approximately 13,315 of our total cases are among health care workers.
