The COVID-19 Pandemic has put a stop to many holiday traditions in the Valley.
Youngstown's holiday parade has been canceled.
The tree lighting will still be held with a small and socially distanced group on Friday, November 20, at 6 p.m.
The City of Youngstown will show the tree lighting on Facebook Live.
"We have to keep everyone safe and this is the best way," said Don Turnage the Parks and Recreation Director.
In Mercer County, Hermitage also canceled what would have been their 32nd Light Up Night parade that brings out more than 10,000 people.
"Fingers crossed we can celebrate next year with a parade," said the Parks and Recreation Director Edward Chess
The Community Food Warehouse has collected donations from the parade for the last several years.
This year they are relying on Truck-Full of Hope at Taylor Chevrolet of Hermitage.
"That has been such a big help," said Becky Page of the Community Food Warehouse. "We are seeing 30 percent more people coming to our food lines now."
The City of Warren in Trumbull County plans to make a decision about their Light Up the Square event on Monday.
