TJX: Not yet hiring for Lordstown distribution center

An executive with TJX Home Goods says the company is not yet hiring people to work at its distribution center under construction in Lordstown.
Responding to a 21 News story saying that Youngstown's Professional Development Center is accepting registrations from 300 candidates for jobs at the warehouse, TJX Vice President of Global Communications, Erika Tower said in an email that TJX has not yet kicked off hiring for warehouse workers yet.
"While the training program offered by the Professional Development Center in Youngstown may provide skills relevant to distribution center employment, this training program is not part of the application process for our Distribution Center," stated Tower.
21 News based its story on information from Jeff Magada, Executive Director of Flying High Incorporated, which is the parent of the Professional Development Center.
Magada says all job candidates will need to attend 2 training sessions in professional forklift and safety training. We are looking to train approximately 300 potential candidates.
All candidates must pre-register at the Professional Development Center prior to attending the training.
Once pre-registered, candidates will be scheduled to attend both training sessions. Pre-registration is available at the PDC on Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. No appointment is necessary, and walk-ins are welcome.
The first training is scheduled to begin Monday, December 7, 2020, and Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at the development center, followed by periodic training until the grand opening of TJX Home Goods Distribution Center or until all positions are filled.
Those pre-registering must bring a valid ID and Social Security card.
A drug screen will be conducted on the first day of training. Applicants will be responsible for the cost of $5 at the time of screening.
PDC is located at 6 Federal Plaza Central, 7th Floor, Downtown Youngstown, OH 44503 (In the Chase Bank Building)
