Youngstown police warn of Walmart scam letter

Youngstown police are warning the public of a scam where an official looking envelope and check are sent to the person.

The letter has the Walmart logo in the header and says that the letter is a follow up to the "Secret Retail Research Paid Survey" that the person allegedly signed up for online.

Police say the letter and packaging appear to be real but are actually a scam attempting to get money from the recipient.

It asks the person to purchase eight blank money orders of $1,000 a piece and to send a text to a phone number confirming the purchase.

Police say if you receive a letter to throw it away.
