The giving continued earlier this week in Warren.

The Second Baptist Church spent more than $8,000 they had raised to help in the community.

Church members spent Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Giant Eagle in Jamestown Village and at the Sparkle on Parkman Road.

Pastor Todd Johnson said the group gave away over 100 gift cards to shoppers and spent around $4,000 buying people's groceries.

"Sometimes we'd step in between them and the machine when they went to reach for their wallet and just swipe and some didn't even realize we were doing it. It was just so amazing to see people laughing, crying, they didn't think we were serious," said Johnson.

The church will continue its food distributions into the new year as well.

The distributions are held on the third Friday of every month at the Highland Terrace Apartments near the church.
