A Cleveland-area community is helping a little boy have the best Christmas possible after police said he was abandoned the day before Christmas Eve in a cemetery.
Wednesday afternoon at 12:16 p.m., the Hinckley Police Department got a call from someone who said they had stopped at the cemetery and saw a medium blue mid-sized car speeding away with a little boy and a dog running after it.
Police took the little boy to the station. He only knew his first name was Tony and appears to be three years old and in good physical condition.
He did tell officers his mom’s name was Katy and his dad's name was David.
Police were able to identify his parents and are working with the Medina County Children Services on the investigation.
Tony is with a foster family at the moment, opening the dozens of gifts given to him by members of the community that filled the lobby of the police station.
"I would like to thank everyone for their kindness in wanting to buy Christmas presents for Tony, take him in and adopt him. You all are amazing people and why we have such a great community here in Hinckley, all of Medina County and beyond," wrote Hinckley Police Chief David Centner.
The gifts were brought to Tony on Christmas morning.
