Bernie Sanders mitten memes ‘visit’ Wedgewood Pizza

 That now-famous photo of a bundled-up Senator Bernie Sanders at President Joe Biden’s inauguration has now been photoshopped into an iconic Valley pizza shop.

You may have seen the many memes of the mittened Vermont senator on the Iron Throne, alongside the Black Panther, or in Elliot’s bike basket from the movie E.T. Now Bernie looks like he’s visited Austintown’s Wedgewood Pizza.

The restaurant’s Facebook page has three Wedgewood-themed photos posted of the senator sitting on a folding chair.

One of them shows Sanders sitting in front of the business on Raccoon Road.  Another photo depicts the senator sitting inside the shop surrounded by employees. 

A third photo shows Sanders sitting next to Wedgewood founder Fernando Riccione on a park bench that was dedicated to Riccione and his business.

The popularity of placing Sanders at famous, and not-so-famous places, has inspired websites allowing users to create their own Bernie memes.

 Meanwhile, like other Vallery eateries, Wedgewood is preparing for the Super Bowl.

If you or Bernie are thinking of ordering a Wedgewood pizza for Sunday’s big game, you’d better think ahead.

The business has posted a Facebook message saying that it won’t be taking orders for pre-cooked pizza on Super Bowl Sunday.

Customers must order ahead and must pick up those pizzas on Saturday.
