A Youngstown businessman and lifelong resident of the city has announced he's running for mayor.

Ryan Kelly, 31, made the announcement Wednesday that he would be filing at the Mahoning County Board of Elections to run in the Democratic primary on May 4.

Kelly currently owns Belleria Pizza in Columbiana and used to own Kelly's Bar and Grille in Youngstown. He says he's been a business owner since he was 18 years old.

A lifelong Youngstown resident, Kelly lives in the city's 5th Ward. Kelly told 21 News he's committed to Youngstown and wants it to be a place that people are proud to live.  He says he's committed to moving the city forward and keeping Youngstown State University graduates here. Kelly adds that he wants everyone to have a seat at the table.

Kelly said he's currently a board member of the Youngstown City Health Department.

As far as Kelly's challengers, Incumbent Democratic Mayor Tito Brown has already officially filed to run for re-election. First Ward Councilman Julius T. Oliver and local Republican Tracey Winbush have also filed to run.
