Court dismisses assault case against Boardman doctor

A Boardman doctor is no longer facing an assault charge.

A trial was scheduled to begin Tuesday in county court for Dr. Daniel Barton who was accused of getting into a physical altercation with another physician at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital in April.

Judge Joseph Houser ended up dismissing the assault charge after a request from the alleged victim and a motion by the prosecutor to dismiss it. Barton will just have to pay for court costs.  

Dr. Barton does not work for Mercy Health but does have his own practice locally.
