Calcutta Health Care is helping use new technology that could be changing healthcare as we know it after receiving hundreds of new innovative devices to be used in assisted living facilities across Northeast Ohio.

Two of those facilities are located in the Valley.

Caprice in North Lima and Country Side at the Elmwood in Hubbard are receiving the portable devices donated by Amazon called the Echo Show, which connects to the Amazon Alexa, allowing around-the-clock communication between residents and staff.

Calcutta Health Care said will provide a higher level of personalized care.

"It speeds up the process for them," Joey Cilone, Administrator of Caprese Health Care in North Lime said, "It frees up time for the nurses and aids. It's really helping both parties. We were lucky to be chosen and there's other facilities I believe that are getting them."

Cilone said the device allows staff to enter resident rooms less, saving medical supplies.

Residents will also be able to use the Echo Show for personal entertainment.
