Robert Cox, 63, of Poland was arrested around 1:30 a.m. Monday morning after police responded to an alleged rape, police reports say.
Beaver Police arrived at Cox's Calla Road residence to find a woman sitting outside in her car. According to the police report, the woman was noticeably in distress and told police that Cox had raped her.
Police say the the woman was falling asleep on Cox's couch when he approached her and 'pounced' on her. The woman fought back, but Cox forced her down and sexually assaulted her. Reports say the woman was eventually able to escape and call police.
Upon questioning Cox, reports says he told police "I don't remember what happened, but I did it."
Cox also told police the victim had never made any advances toward him in the past that would make him think she was interested in having sexual relations with him. The report says Cox told police "I'm sorry, I ruined a lot of people's lives by doing what I did. I should have never done that."
Cox has been charged with rape and is being held at the Mahoning County Jail.
