A Warren man is in jail, accused of stealing three off-road motorcycles from a neighbor.

Cruz Torres, 39, was arrested Sunday on a warrant issued by the city prosecutor’s office.

According to a police report, a Lane Drive woman heard someone inside the shed outside her home after midnight last Tuesday.

The woman said she tried to hold the shed door closed to capture the suspect but said he forced his way out and ran away, taking with him a pit bike.

In addition, the woman told police that two other pit bikes and tools were missing from the shed. The police report lists the value of the stolen motorbikes as a total of more than $2,300.

The woman identified the suspect as a man who lives across the street from her, adding that her children had played with his children.

Police found Torres Sunday afternoon while answering a complaint about an unwanted person from a woman at his home.

Torres is charged with burglary, robbery, and receiving stolen property. His arraignment is scheduled for Monday.
