McDonald woman receives 'Women of Impact' award

MCDONALD, Ohio - The American Heart Association has presented a McDonald woman with the 2022 Tri-County Go Red For Women Woman of Impact award for her contributions to the fight against heart disease in the tri-county area.
Kerry Reckard led and participated in over 10 mission impact activities throughout the nine-week campaign and raised over $44,000 in support of the AHA's signature movement to band women together and fight heart disease and stroke.
Reckard is an insurance agent with State Farm. She says this is a very important cause to her as she's lost her father to heart disease when he was just 58 years old leaving her mother widowed at age 54.
Reckard turned 54 herself last year and described that as "a wakeup call."
"It was the wakeup call that I needed to learn more about my risk factors including my family's history with cardiovascular disease to continue to make sure my family and I are living longer longer, healthier lives," Reckard said.
Throughout the campaign, Reckard immersed herself and her team in every aspect of the AHA's mission taking charge of her own health and inspired others to do the same.
AHA's Development Director, Courtney Lockshaw says the AHA is grateful to have Reckard with them raising critical funds in support of their mission.
"All of these women took on a challenge by becoming the inaugural class of Tri-County Woman of Impact nominees without hesitation. What impressed me the
most was their support of one another," Lockshaw said.
Collectively, this year's tri-county nominees and their impact teams initiated over 50 direct mission impact opportunities throughout the community and beyond raising over $94,000 for the campaign.
