Salem Super Cruise roars back beginning Thursday
If you like fast cars, motorcycles or trucks, fair food and music, the Salem Super Cruise is where you will want to be.
The events begin Thursday, June 9, and run through Sunday, June 12.
The event is free and open to the public, and will consist of daily 50/50 raffles, silent auctions and a $500 Moore Farms meat raffle. Door prizes, dash plaques and trophies will be awarded.
Formula Drift Driver Dirk Stratton and Scotty G street cars, race cars and truck displays will be at Firestone Service Center on S. Lundy Ave.
"This is our fair," said Dennis Plegge, Director of the Salem Super Cruise. "Lisbon has their fair, Columbiana has the street fair and Canfield has a fair. Salem doesn't have anything else but this."
"When I was young, we could cruise the streets all night long," said Terry Bishop of Salem. "Then, the jubilee used to come along which is when all the families and friends come back. Now, this is when all the families and friends come back. We get to see each other and enjoy our friends this weekend."
Several car owners told 21 News on Thursday this is Salem's biggest event of the year and it truly feels like a community kicked of into summer.
They said it continues to grow every year and post-pandemic, they're excited to get it back up once again.
"This this the quickest they've filled up this lot," Plegge said. "We only have a few left for show cars."
"Now, when everybody's getting back in the swing of things, it's a much better show," said Brian May of Greenford. "We have food, sunshine and cars. That's Northeast Ohio."
