Vienna police are asking for state agents to help them investigate claims of a sexual and physical assault.

A woman was spotted along Niles-Vienna Road near Scoville North Road and the Rt. 11 overpass acting erratic Saturday morning at around 8 a.m.

A driver noticed the woman and called 911.

"She had some bruises and she was claiming some physical injuries," Vienna Police Chief Bob Ludt said. "She stated to my officer that she was held against her will and was sexually assaulted and physically abused."

Police quickly found the man she accused of abducting, raping and assaulting her parked on a gravel well road off of Niles-Vienna Road.

John T. Reeher, 55, of Hermitage, was arrested by police on charges of felonious assault and abduction.

Ludt says Reeher denies the woman's accusations.

His red 2009 Honda Civic was taken in as evidence. Chief Ludt is requesting the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation step in.

"We're going to get a search warrant and have BCI come in and process the vehicle for any DNA or body fluids or whatever," Ludt said.

The victim was taken to Trumbull Memorial Hospital for evaluations and a sexual assault nurse examination.

Once she was released from the hospital care, she was arrested and taken into custody on a warrant for her full extradition related to charges out of Pennsylvania.

Reeher appeared via video for his arraignment in Girard Municipal Court on Monday.

His bond was set at $50,000.
