The Ohio Department of Health has launched a new monkeypox dashboard to keep Ohioans up to date with information on the status of the disease in the state.

The dashboard is similar to the COVID-19 dashboard. It includes an interactive map, the total number of cases across the state and per county, the age range of those infected, percentage of cases by sex, and outcomes, including hospitalizations and deaths.

As of Thursday, August 25, there have been 147 confirmed cases of monkeypox in the buckeye state. Most cases have been reported in the state's largest metro areas, Franklin and Cuyahoga counties.

Mahoning County has one case, while Columbiana and Trumbull counties have not had a confirmed case at this time.

Below is a breakdown of cases statewide by county:

The cases are almost exclusively in men, as they account for 96% of them.

Nine of the 147 cases have resulted in hospitalizations, and there have been no deaths. The age range for those infected is 19 to 64 years.

Ohio's first confirmed case was reported on June 13, and since then, there has been an increase in Ohio and the country as a whole.

Monkeypox is spread through close, personal, skin-to-skin contact with someone that has the disease. Symptoms often include a rash that looks like pimples or blisters, and the rash will turn into scabs before healing.
