A place that may stir up memories of summers past in Niles will become a pile of rubble next week.
Niles Mayor Steven Mientkiewicz has announced that crews will begin demolishing the Waddell Pool next Tuesday.
The demolition project funded by the city and the Council of Governments is planned to start at 9 a.m.
The City council approved demolition plans of the pool and pool building at Waddell Park. The pool has been closed since 2014.
The estimated cost is $25,000.
Plans are to eventually put in a splash pad at the location with a goal of breaking ground in 2023.
