Ohio's minimum wage will be increasing at the start of 2023.

Effective January 1, 2023, Ohio's minimum wage will increase by 80 cents for non-tipped employees from $9.30 per hour to $10.10 per hour.

The minimum wage for tipped employees will increase by 40 cents from $4.65 per hour to $5.05 per hour.

The 2021 Ohio minimum wage applies to employees of businesses with annual gross receipts of $342,000 or more per year.

For employees at smaller companies with annual gross receipts of less than $371,000 per year, and for 14 through 15-year-olds, the state minimum wage is tied to the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour.

The increase is a result of a 2006 ruling which states Ohio must increase its minimum wage at the start of each calendar year by the rate of inflation.

The state minimum wage is tied to the Consumer Price Index (CPI-W) for urban wage earners and clerical workers for the 12-month period prior to September.

This CIP-W index has increased by 8.7% over the 12-month period from September 1, 2021 and August 31, 2022.
