The Mahoning County Coroner's Office has identified the two victims of a double homicide that took place on I-680 Thursday night.

The two victims have been identified as 19-year-old Marquis Whitted and 19-year-old Kylearia Day.

21 News has reached out to Day's cousin for comment. She tells 21 News that her cousin had nothing to do with the circumstances that led up to the shooting and that she was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"She was the sweetest girl in the entire world. She was going to leave Youngstown in three weeks. She was the smartest person I've ever met. She went to early college and has made Dean's List every year she has been in school. She was going to make the earth shake with her greatness," Day's cousin said.

Day's cousin went on to tell us that the world "became gray" upon Day's death.

"That should scare people and that should make people want to change and stop senseless violence and killing. I want people to remember her as the beautiful, intelligent and caring woman that she was, not as 'the first death of 2023,'" her cousin continued.

Day's cousin concluded her statement by telling us all she can hope for now is justice to be served.
