Columbiana Co. Humane Society seeing more pets with respiratory distress after train derailment

COLUMBIANA COUNTY, Ohio - Even though a report from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources said several dead animals in East Palestine did not have any chemical toxicity from the derailment, the Columbiana County Humane Society says its been flooded with pets with upper respiratory distress.
The Humane Society told 21 News most of the animals they saw were left behind during the evacuations following the train derailment.
Columbiana County Humane Society Executive Director Teresa McGuire told 21 News most pets experienced loss of appetite, not being thirsty, and throwing up a white foamy substance. In some cases there have been animals experiencing hind quarter paralysis.
McGuire said they took in almost 30 animals during the evacuation process.
Currently they have only a few animals left from East Palestine.
