Warren police arrested a suspect after pursuing two males on an all-terrain vehicle who allegedly spit on a man in the city's 800 block of Eastland Avenue on Wednesday.

According to the Warren Police, around 7 p.m. Wednesday, a man reported two juveniles wearing hoodies on a 4-wheeler spat on the individual as they drove past him.

The victim, a 41-year-old followed the juveniles in his car and flagged down the Warren police officer.

The officer heard another call of a person telling 911 that they were almost struck by two males youths on an ATV on Oak Knoll Avenue.

According to the police report, the officer began his pursuit on Oak Knoll Avenue, briefly lost sight of the 4-wheeler, and when he located it again on E. Homewood, the passenger was no longer on the all-terrain. The ATV then turned on E. Market Street in the city and turn north onto Chestnut Avenue NE. The 4-wheeler then turned onto Porter Street NE, onto the sidewalk on Elm Road heading north.

The suspect turned into the parking lot of the Family Dollar store, and headed onto St. Clair NE and back onto Porter Street, where the suspect began accelerating.

The officer activated his siren and cruiser's lights for the suspect to pull over, but the driver continued onto Woodland Street NE and onto a bike trail. The officer knew where the bike would come out and headed there to observe the suspect crossing Atlantic Street NE and onto Olive Avenue NE.

As the officer turned onto Olive, a citizen pointed easterly down Forest Street NE. The pursuit continued onto Paige Avenue NE, and crossed a parking lot onto Dana Street NE, onto the railroad bed and then turned west on Atlantic Street.

Multiple Warren police joined in the chase and continued down more roads in the vicinity, and then the ATV driver went into Perkin Park, through the playground, which, according to the report, was full of families.

The ATV driver drove out of the park and, according to the police report, "blew through [the] red light and was almost struck by cross traffic" at Mahoning Avenue and Summit Street.

Officers had identified the driver and called off the chase.

Officers went to the juvenile's home in the 600 block of Kinsman Street NW, and were able to arrest the 16-year-old without incident. He was taken to the Trumbull County Juvenile Detention Center and is awaiting his hearing. The boy was charged with failure to comply with an order or signal ofa police officer.
