A ceremony was held at a Hubbard bridge Saturday morning to honor veterans with the renaming of the bridge.
The bridge, located on West Liberty Street near the Hubbard Post Office was renamed to the 'Purple Heart Veterans Memorial Bridge.'
Hubbard Mayor, Ben Kyle says this project had been years in the making.
"Working alongside our VFW and our American Legion, the city has taken the approach that we want to honor our veterans [and] remember our veterans for their sacrifices to our country. And to do so we want to work together to rename bridges," Mayor Kyle said.
Mayor Kyle went on to say that now that the sign is unveiled, everyone driving across the bridge will remember the name: Purple Heart Veterans Memorial Bridge."
"It's very important to remember that all gave some and some gave all," Mayor Kyle said.
Guests at the ceremony included Ohio 64th District Representative, Nick Santucci, Ohio Senator, Sandy O'Brien and representatives for Hubbard's VFW and American Legion.
