Austintown Fitch wins first state softball championship

The Austintown Fitch softball team captured the Division I State Championship after beating Anthony Wayne, 6-1, at Firestone Stadium in Akron.

The Falcons capped off an undefeated season with their first softball state championship in school history.

Fitch trailed 1-0 heading into the top of the 3rd, but tied things up when Kylie Folkwein drove in a run.

Folkwein had 3 hits and 2 RBI's in the win.

The Falcons took the lead in top of the 5th when Ayla Ray crushed a homerun to right field.

Fitch would drive in three more runs in the 5th inning.

Sophmore pitcher Sydnie Watts (21-0) had 12 strikeouts in the game.

Fitch finishes the season 22-0-2.
