Austintown Trustee Kent doesn't file for re-election; See other non-partisan races for Mahoning County

Wednesday was the deadline for candidates to file to appear on the ballot for the November 7 General election.

Noticeably absent from the list was Austintown Trustee Steve Kent, who is about to go on trial in Mahoning County on charges of sexual battery in 2022 after allegedly engaging in sexual conduct with a Poland Seminary High School student while he was a resource officer for the school.

Kent or additional candidates can still file to run as a write-in candidate, which must be submitted to the Mahoning County Board of Election by August 28.
