NEWTON FALLS, Ohio — Residents and businesses near Camp James A. Garfield Joint Military Training Center in Newton Falls and the surrounding areas may hear explosions that will be used as part of the training by the Ohio Army National Guard’s 147th Regiment on Wednesday and Thursday.
Sounds from the explosions may be heard farther away than what occurs during normal operations. The facility will have intermittent explosions during the training season.
Camp Garfield is a 21,000 acres Ohio Army National Guard training site in Portage and Trumbull counties with small arms weapons ranges and facilities to support individual and collective training events for both weekend and annual training for Army and other Department of Defense units in the midwestern US.
