Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) have announced on X, formerly known as Twitter that the suspect in a manhunt across the commonwealth has been captured.

According to a tweet from PSP, a press conference is going to be held at 9:30 a.m. for the capture of 36-year-old Danelo Cavalcante in Kennett Square, PA.

Cavalcante has been on the run since August 31 when he broke out of the Chester County Jail in the Delaware Valley region.

According to the Associated Press, he was awaiting transfer to a state prison to serve a life sentence for the murder of his ex-girlfriend in 2021. AP reports that he killed her to stop her from telling police he was wanted for a slaying in his home country of Brazil.

In Brazil, Cavalcante was wanted for the "double qualified homicide" in the 2017 killing of Válter Júnior Moreira dos Reis.
