Among the opportunities available for New Castle School of Trade students, is the chance for life-changing scholarships. The 2023 "scholarship day" celebration saw a record amount of money awarded to nearly 50 high-achieving students.
"To think that we were aiming for ten thousand dollars in scholarships this year, and to come in at $124,000 from our local community organizations, it's just a tremendous testament to the support we get in the area," NCST President Rex Spaulding remarks.
The New Castle School of Trades will next pursue similar fundraising efforts for scholarships through a newly-announced non-profit. The school hopes that offering more scholarships will help sustain high enrollment, by appealing to a broader range of high school students and graduates.
"These are short term programs that lend themselves to the real world. And, our students can get out in the workforce pretty quickly," Spaulding adds.
