Apple lovers and festival lovers are in for a special treat in Lisbon this weekend as the annual Johnny Appleseed Festival is back for another year.
The festival takes place the third weekend of every September in Downtown Lisbon and features plenty of activities from a parade, live music, a car show a petting zoo and even an apple pie contest judged by 21 WFMJ's very own Meteorologist Eric Wilhelm.
There will also be free inflatable axe throwing, $3 train rides, a rock hunt with prizes, a quilt show, a photography show, an art show and a source gallery exhibition.
The festivities kick off bright and early Saturday with an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast at 7:00 a.m. at the fire hall on South Jefferson Street. The breakfast is $8 per person, but kids age five years old and under can eat free.
This is followed by the annual parade which lines up at 9:45 a.m. at McKinley Elementary and kicks off at 10:45 a.m. immediately followed by the royal crowning ceremony on the main stage.
The Royal Queen will receive a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by the Lisbon Eagles, and the Royal 1st and 2nd Attendants will each receive a $500 scholarship sponsored by Jenny Rukenbrod.
The ceremony will also include the crowning of Little Miss Apple Blosom and Little Mr. Apple Bud sponsored by The Lions Club, the introductions of visiting festival royalty and the announcement of the art project winners and prizes sponsored by Serenity's Way.

- 3:45 p.m.-4:45 p.m.: Performance from the Bettie Lee Dancers on the Washington Street Stage
- 4:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m.: Live music from Giovaun on the Main Stage
- 5:00 p.m.-5:45 p.m.: McLaughlin's Martial Arts demonstration from martial arts instructor, Chris McLaughlin on the Main Stage
- 6:00 p.m.-6:45 p.m.: Social Stompers Line Dancers on the Main Stage
- 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.: Live music from 7% Superstar on the Washington Street Stage sponsored by Brett Allen Green - Realtor
- 8:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m.: Live music from New Wave Nation on the Main Stage sponsored by Richardson's Monuments Inc.
Sunday's festivities will kick off at 10:00 a.m. with a church service on the Main Stage with the Lisbon Assembly of God featuring special guest Rick Jackson. The rest of Sunday's events are as follows:

- 3:00 pm.-5:00 p.m.: JAF Has Talent with cash prizes of $100, $75 and $50 plus a spot on the 2023 Johnny Appleseed Fest Stage
