Norfolk Southern is scheduled to break ground Thursday on a training center for first responders in East Palestine.
CEO Alan Shaw and East Palestine officials will attend a ceremony to mark the start of the construction of a regional safety training center at 430 Park Avenue.
The center will train first responders from Ohio and Pennsylvania on how to respond to emergencies on railroad tracks.
The facility is part of the company's response to the toxic train derailment that happened in February.
Norfolk Southern announced plans to create the center on March 8.
