Former Youngstown State running back Jaleel McLaughlin had a breakout performance Sunday for the Denver Broncos.
The former Penguin stepped in as the lead back for the Denver Broncos in the come-from-behind win over the Chicago Bears. McLaughlin was forced into a larger role after starter Javonte Williams left the game with a hip injury in the second quarter.
McLaughlin made an impact, catching an 18-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Russell Wilson in the first quarter.
He finished the game with seven carries for 72 yards and three receptions for 32 yards and a touchdown as the Broncos erased a 21-point deficit to win 31-28.
Jaleel McLaughlin played for Notre Dame College in Euclid before transferring to YSU. He became the NCAA's all-time leading rusher during his final season, finishing with 8,155 total yards.
After going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, he signed with the Broncos. He made the final roster after rushing for 113 yards and four touchdowns in the preseason.
McLaughlin and the Broncos will take on the New York Jets next Sunday.
