Mercy Health Youngstown's Dr. Dwight Heron has been named a Fellow of the American Society for Society for Radiation Oncology (FASTRO).
"It is an honor to be named a Fellow of the American Society for Radiation Oncology and join an elite group of physicians, past and present, recognized for their contributions to radiation oncology," Heron said. "Advancing radiation oncology treatments through academics and research has been a pinnacle of my career and I look forward to continuing this work for our patients."
According to a news release from Mercy Health, Heron has more than 15 years of experience leafing large oncology programs and has managed hundreds of physicians including junior and mid-level residents and medical students.
He joins 29 other physicians recognized this year for their contributions to the field of oncology through research, education, patient care or service.
Heron will receive this designation at an awards ceremony in San Diego Tuesday, Oct. 3.
