The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a warning for a Salmonella outbreak among toddlers linked to dry dog food.
The outbreak is linked to Victor brand Hi-Pro dry dog food by Mid America Pet Food.
Infants and young children can get sick from contaminated pet food if they have access to pet food bowls on the floor, handle or put pet food in their mouths, or if caregivers don't wash hands after feeding pets.
So far, the center has received reports about this out break in seven states, including Kentucky, Alabama, Florida, California, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Hawaii.
One person has been hospitalized as a result of this outbreak, though no deaths have been reported.
As a result, the Food and Drug Administration has issued recalls for several dog and cat food brands made by this company.
If you have this food, do not feed it to your animals and keep it out of reach from children.
Instead, the recalled food should be thrown away.
