A vehicle and a home on Youngstown's west side were struck by gunfire early Wednesday morning.

According to a police report, officers were dispatched to the 1700 Block of Oakwood Avenue around 2:45 a.m. in response to reported gunfire. Upon arrival, police were redirected to I-680 Southbound just off the Oakwood exit to speak with the driver of a pickup truck that was shot at.

The female driver told police that while she was driving on Oakwood, a tan Chevy Malibu with black tinted windows and an unknown license plate number came speeding up behind her.

Police say once the two vehicles stopped at a red light, a male suspect in the Malibu could be heard shouting something at the woman, but the woman did not know what was being said.

Police say when the light turned green, the suspect in the Malibu fired a gun at her as she was driving away striking her vehicle. Police also say a nearby home was also struck.

Officers observed two bullet holes on the right front passenger side of the pickup truck. One in the door and one on the front bumper going into the engine bay area.

The female victim told police her check engine light came on soon after the incident.

Meanwhile, police spoke with the owner of the home that was struck, who told police he only saw one bullet hole in his front door. Three spent Remington .223 casings were collected from the scene.

No injuries were reported and arrests have been made at this time.
