The holidays will be a little brighter in East Liverpool's historic downtown district for years to come, thanks to the efforts of a 92-year-old local resident.

East Liverpool Mayor Greg Bricker tells 21 News that Ginny Jackson has spent the past few months raising money for the purchase of an outdoor artificial tree to display on the Downtown Diamond.

After soliciting donations from local businesses and individuals, Jackson raised more than $10,000.

Bricker says the city will purchase a panel tree that will be on display for years to come.

There is a similar tree in the town center of Columbiana, according to the mayor.

“Thanks to Ginny East Liverpool will have our own,” says Bricker. “These trees look amazing and will be a great addition to downtown.”
