Cortland man sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for raping child

A Cortland man has pled guilty and learned his fate on on Monday for raping a child in the fall of 2021.

According to the Trumbull County Prosecutor's Office, 26-year-old Michael Dunham pled guilty to a first-degree rape charge and was sentenced to life in prison with his first chance of parole after 15 years.

The charge stems from an incident in August of 2021 when Dunham raped a boy who was only four years old at the time.

As part of his sentence, Dunham must register as a tier 3 sex offender four times per year for the rest of his life if he is ever released from prison.
