UPDATE: Power has been restored to most people in Mercer County

Power has been restored to the over 1,100 people are who lost power in Mercer County.

According to FirstEnergy's outage map, the county had a total of 7,284 outages around 9:00 a.m. Wednesday. As of 11:00 a.m., that number has been reduced to 1,172. As of 1:03 p.m. Wednesday that number has gone down to five.

Areas with the most outages include Greenville Borough with 368, Hempfield Township with 390 and Sugar Grove Township with 303.

FirstEnergy spokesperson Lauren Siburkis tells 21 News the outage was caused by a broken insulator. Siburkis says FirstEnergy was able to switch the majority of customers to a backup power line while repairs to the primary line are being made.
