Mahoning County Judge charged in crash with bicyclist

 A Mahoning County Judge will be making an appearance in court next month, but this time on the opposite side of the bench.

Judge R. Scott Krichbaum has been charged with reckless operation and overtaking/ passing vehicles headed in the same direction after he allegedly struck a bicyclist in Beaver Township last month.

According to the crash report, the bicyclist was traveling northbound on Sharrott Road, and Kirchbaum's car was heading in the same direction when he allegedly hit the bicyclist. 

The report says that after Kirchbaum allegedly hit the bicycle, he left the scene without stopping. The report also states that Kirchbaum came forward after discovering damage to his car.

Krichbaum will be in court on January 12 at 9 a.m.
