Now that the holiday season is over and the new year has begun, local food pantries may be feeling the strain after a busy two months.
That's why the Trumbull-Mahoning Diversity Equity and Inclusion Collaborative has partnered with the cadence Care Network to help replenish local pantries and closets throughout the year.
According to a news release from DEI, with the end of pandemic assistance programs and the rise in inflation, local pantries and closets are forced to meet increased needs with less resources.
The group's initiative is called the Continuing the Care Initiative, which will focus on securing funding that will be used to purchase items in bulk to be distributed to these food services as needed throughout the year.
