A credit card skimmer has been found at the Boardman Walmart on Monday according to the Boardman Police Department.

According to a police report, officers were dispatched to the store shortly before 9:30 a.m. in reference to the card skimmer found at a self-checkout station in the store.

Police spoke with a loss prevention worker who told officers employees had received a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alert in reference to unknown suspects placing credit card skimmers in self checkouts at various stores throughout the country.

According to the police report, employees who inspected the skimmer noted that it was very high quality and nearly an exact replica of the bottom half of the pin and almost indistinguishable from the machine.

Police say the skimmer was superglued over the pin pad.

Police obtained surveillance footage from the store which showed two men wearing black newsboy-style caps pulled down low, black pea coats and surgical masks enter the store, grab produce and a t-shirt and proceed to the self-checkout station.

From there, police say the video shows the men supergluing the skimmer to the pin pad and leaving the store.

Police say it's difficult to determine the men's race and age because they appeared to be aware that they were on camera, avoiding looking in their direction and keeping their heads down.

However, police do say that one of the suspects appeared to be very tall and thin. Police also say the two rode smaller electric scooters in the parking lot.

All of this information, including the scooters matched the description of other similar cases involving credit card skimmers across Ohio and surrounding states.

At this point, it is unknown how many people used their credit cards on this machine when the skimmer was up and how much money, if any, had been lost.
