CVS pharmacies in Valley Target stores not included on closing list

CVS stores in the Valley’s two Target stores will be spared when the pharmacy chain closes CVS locations in Target stores around the country.

According to a CVS spokesperson, “select” CVS pharmacies would be shut down in some Target stores, not including the Targets in the Eastwood Mall and the Shops at Boardman Park.

The pharmacy closures will begin in February and be completed by the end of April.

CVS says impacted employees will be offered comparable roles within the company.

Before closing any impacted location, prescriptions will be transferred to a nearby CVS Pharmacy to ensure patients have uninterrupted access to pharmacy care.

The closures are part of a plan to realign the CVS national retail footprint and reduce store and pharmacy density based on evaluating population changes, consumer buying patterns, and future health needs.

It was back in 2015 that CVS completed the acquisition of Target's 1,672 pharmacies in 47 states.
