A federal inmate has been sentenced for bribing having contraband inside of prison.
According to the release, Kevin Coles was sentenced to 30 months in prison and three years of probation.
Coles was indicted on May 17, 2023, on one count of bribery and two counts of possession of contraband in prison.
According to the indictment, the offenses occurred between February 2017 through January 17, 2019, while Coles was an inmate at the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center in Youngstown.
Coles had arranged for a corrections officer to be paid in exchange for the contraband which included Suboxone and tobacco.
The investigation was conducted by the Inspector General's Chicago Field Office and the FBI.
